What's the MPG on a 2018 Ford Raptor? Looking for Real-World Insights!

I’m considering getting a 2018 Ford Raptor, but I’m really curious about its fuel efficiency in everyday driving, especially compared to my current truck. The official ratings seem decent, but I’m looking for real-world experiences from those who own this beast.

Points I’m Curious About:

  • Average MPG: What kind of fuel economy are you getting? Highway vs city?
  • Driving Conditions: Do you mostly drive on highways, in traffic, or off-road? How does that impact MPG?
  • Comparison with Other Trucks: If you’ve owned or driven other trucks, how does the Raptor stack up in terms of fuel efficiency?
  • Any Tips: Any tips on how to maximize MPG with this truck?

I appreciate any insights you can share – every detail helps!

I’ve had my 2018 Raptor for about a year now. On the highway, I get around 18 MPG, but that drops to about 14 MPG in heavy traffic. Off-roading really hits it hard, sometimes as low as 10 MPG.

I’ve heard that highway conditions can really make a difference! I’ve kept mine mostly on the freeway and managed to get 19 MPG. It’s a beast for sure!

I’m curious too! For those who take it off-road, how much does it really drop? My friend insists it’s more like 8 MPG when really pushing it.

I usually get about 15 MPG off-road, depending on the terrain. That said, if you’re in mud or really rough spots, it can go lower as acontreras pointed out.

Wow, I never expected it to drop that low! That’s something to consider for weekend trips.

I find that if I drive it moderately, I can maintain around 16 MPG in mixed conditions, though it can be tricky with all that horsepower!

That’s solid advice, torressamantha! I try to stay under the speed limit to maximize efficiency, but sometimes I just can’t resist!

Does anyone else notice the MPG fluctuate dramatically with the weather? My Raptor seemed to drink more gas in the winter!

Definitely! Cold weather impacts fuel efficiency due to engine warmth. I’ve noticed my mileage drop by 1-2 MPG in the winter.

I think overall, if you can keep it on-road, the Raptor’s MPG isn’t too bad for a truck! Can’t wait to bring mine back to the trails soon.

Agreed! Some days, I feel like I need to trade it for a hybrid just for the mileage!

LOL, ftate! I think we’d all be forced to reconsider if we’re chasing fuel efficiency.

As much as I love off-roading, it’s hard to justify the gas mileage some days! Anyone tried different driving techniques?

I’ve been trying to keep my RPMs lower and coast more. It seems to help a bit, but it’s hard with all that torque at your feet!

Ultimately, those who love their Raptor seem to accept the trade-off for power and capability, but it’s good to have a realistic view of the MPG!

The 2018 Ford Raptor averages around 15-18 MPG, depending on driving conditions. It’s not the most fuel-efficient truck out there, but it’s designed for performance! Compared to the Chevy Silverado, which can reach up to 22 MPG, it falls a bit short.

That’s interesting! I’ve heard the Raptor’s powerful turbocharged V6 really sacrifices fuel efficiency. Do you think it makes up for it in capability?

True! The Raptor is definitely more about off-roading performance. Other trucks like the Toyota Tundra have lower MPG, about 13-15, so it’s not as bad comparatively. But it’s good to know what you’re signing up for when choosing.

I’m a Raptor owner, and I usually get around 17 MPG on the highway. I think the driving style really affects fuel efficiency too. Heavy foot? Forget good MPG.
