That’s fair! With big tires and weight, it’s not surprising. What brand of tires are you using? I’ve heard some can affect mileage significantly!
I’m using Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. They’re great off-road, but you do sacrifice a bit of MPG. Raptor’s build is just not meant to be a fuel-sipper, unfortunately.
For what it’s worth, a Ram 1500 can go up to 24 MPG in eco mode. The Raptor is fun, but if MPG is your priority, that’s the way to go.
That’s impressive! But can it keep up with the Raptor in off-road situations? I think that’s where the Raptor shines!
I agree, the Raptor is king of off-road. It’s just not a daily commuter truck. MPG aside, the fun factor is what drives us to own them!
Absolutely, it’s about the experience! But I can’t help but wonder how much money I’d save with a lower MPG truck. Maybe I should rethink my options…
It’s a tough call! My friend has a F-150, and he’s consistently getting 20 MPG. Sometimes I feel like the added enjoyment of the Raptor isn’t worth the extra fuel costs.
That’s valid! I think if you can afford the extra, go for it, but if not, there are plenty of great options with better MPG.
What about the new models? Are they any better with fuel efficiency? I’ve heard the tech has improved, making them more eco-friendly or something.
The new models do have improved tech, but it’s still a struggle to break out of the low teens for MPG. Ford knows what people want from Raptor, and it’s not fuel efficiency! But we can hope!
Lol, true! It’s like asking a lion to be a vegetarian, right? The best we can do is enjoy the ride and budget accordingly!
Yes! Just keep the fun in mind while choosing a vehicle. Life’s too short to drive boring trucks!
I’ve been averaging around 15 MPG in my 2018 Raptor, but I mainly drive it off-road. For better MPG, consider tuning your driving habits. Smooth acceleration really helps!
That’s great advice! I found that using the towing mode when not towing actually improves my MPG on the highway. Anyone else experienced this?
Interesting! I’ve also noticed better MPG when I keep 65 mph on the highway. I read that aerodynamics matter, especially for a truck. Is that true?
Absolutely! I regularly check my tire pressure too. Under-inflated tires can lower your MPG significantly. What pressure do others recommend for the Raptor?
I keep mine at around 35 PSI. It helps with both MPG and tire wear. Additionally, I suggest avoiding aggressive driving – it might be hard, but it pays off!
I kept mine stock for a while, but after adding a more efficient air intake, I noticed a small boost in MPG. Definitely worth looking into modifications!
Good point! I’ve been considering an exhaust system upgrade. Anyone had success with that improving MPG?
Exhaust definitely can help, but make sure it doesn’t mess with power delivery. It’s a balance! Also, regular maintenance is key – oil changes can make a difference too.
