The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 offers a great off-road ability for an all terrain tire. It can tackle rocky terrain, mud and even ice and snow, which makes it an all weather choice as well. With all that said, the Cooper Tires Discoverer S/T MAXX don’t work in mud – there are better tires for those situations. They do work in snow though.

The Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar is designed to easily repel dirt and tackle every possible terrain out there. That’s why, it offers great traction on gravel, in mud and snow, and on rocky terrain. The Kevlar reinforcement and hardworking wraparound tread help with longevity as well – this is one of the most long-lasting Wrangler tires out there. And you shouldn’t worry about punctures – the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar can survive most of the sharp objects you’ll tackle.

On-road performance and handling are somewhat limited though with the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar, but owners of the Wrangler Rubicon already know and expect that. Not that other 35-inch off-road tires are better on the road.

4. BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3

This particular tire has the Krawl-Tek compound that enhances traction and drivability on rock and slick surfaces, with symmetric Terrain-Attack tread design. Thanks to these technologies, the Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 simply bites the rocks, regardless of the angle of entry.

But, we mentioned mud as well up there, and yes, the BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 is very good in those situations as well. This is a real off-road tire that works on any type of surface. That is unless that surface is snow – even though it has big sipes, the BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 lacks the snow-biting sipes that can be found in snow tires. On the other hand, you can expect good performance on the road, quiet and comfortable ride (for an off-road tire) and very, very strong construction that promises longevity.

5. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2

Despite the deep treads, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 isn’t a snow tire and shouldn’t be used like one. That said, for casual drivers, it should be good enough on snow, especially in areas with less snow in the winter. Even though the Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain is marketed as an all terrain tire, make no mistake – it can tackle heavy terrain as well. This particular tire may not be the best in every category, but it comes close. It’s good on gravel, mud, snow and rocky roads. Sure, you can have a better experience in every category, but not with the same tire. The Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain can do it all at the same time.

Wrangler fans around the world like this tire a lot because it’s good on-road too. Here it offers good driving comfort, silent ride (for an all terrain tire), and all weather capability. You shouldn’t worry about rain or snow with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain – it will almost surely be capable of delivering on its promise. 7. Dick Cepek Extreme Country

However, there are some options out there that can satisfy the high-performance needs of a car nerd, without costing too much. One such option is the Dick Cepek Extreme Country, an off-road tire that can tackle some serious terrain when coupled with the all-wheel-drive system with a central-locking differential in the Wrangler.

The Dick Cepek Extreme Country is equipped with very deep treads that help in almost every off-road situation, even mud and snow (it’s M/S rated). Yes, this is a tire that also works in the snow. The High Tensile Body Ply Cord helps with durability, without adding heft. Thanks to that, the Extreme Country feels planted on-road as well and is reasonably comfortable for an off-road tire. It’s safe to say that this is a very tough tire as well, one that can’t be easily punctured, even on the very demanding rocky terrain.

With all that said, the Dick Cepek Extreme Country can be a bit loud on the highway and it isn’t the most comfortable tire out there, especially when compared to all terrain tires. If you drive your Wrangler mostly on the road and you’re not very serious about off-roading, we think that a good all terrain tire will do a much better job.

8. Toyo Open Country A/T II

The Toyo Open Country A/T II is an all terrain, all season tire that won’t break the bank. Despite its low price, you can expect very high performance from the Toyo in almost every condition, even when compared to more expensive tires. All in all, the Toyo doesn’t have some big disadvantages compared to premium tires, despite perhaps the slightly lesser off-road ability when compared to BF Goodrich or Goodyear.

This tire is a great choice for Wrangler buyers on a budget because it offers good traction on gravel, dirt, and rocks, while also being reasonably good on mud thanks to its aggressive sidewall and deeper tread depth. Compared to the best all terrain tires out there, you’ll lose a little of the ability, but you’ll gain in on-road comfort and quietness.

The Toyo Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain offers very good handling for an off-road tire as well, which is very important for drivers that drive mostly on the road. Toyo even offers long 65,000-mile tread warranty, that’s longer than most premium tires out there. And it’s not just a marketing gimmick – the Toyo Open Country A/T II is made of wear-resistant tread compound.

9. General Grabber AT2 Radial Tire

As with the Toyo that sits above, the General Grabber AT2 Radial Tire offers very good all terrain and all season capability, at a lower price point. The best thing about the General tire is that you won’t lose a lot of capability, durability, and quality when compared to premium tires, even though the price is a little lower.

The General Grabber AT2 Radial Tire is specifically designed to tackle almost any terrain out there, which is obvious by the deep and aggressive grooves. As a matter of fact, this is a more serious off-road tire than some other all terrain tires out there. That’s great news for enthusiasts who want the off-road capability, but don’t want to drain their pockets for that.

Apart from being very successful in off-road conditions, even in mud, the General Grabber AT2 is very good in snowy conditions thanks to the pliable rubber. Sure, it may not replace a proper winter tire, but it’s more than fit for the job.

The lower price doesn’t mean that you’ll get lower longevity either – thanks to the tear-resistant tread compound, the General Grabber AT2 can last a long time before it needs replacing.

10. Milestar Patagonia M/T Mud-Terrain

The Milestar Patagonia M/T Mud Terrain may be the cheapest tire on our list, but it’s certainly not the least cheerful. This inexpensive tire can be very fun to drive off-road when coupled with the Jeep Wrangler. We know, the price may be off-putting, especially after you paid thousands of dollar for the Wrangler alone, but trust us, this is a very good off-road tire.

The extremely deep and big tread design help the Milestar Patagonia M/T tackle almost any terrain out there. Gravel, sand, rocks, mud you name it, the Milestar can tackle it. It’s also mud-terrain certified, so you can be sure that you’ll not end up stuck in the middle of nowhere. Snow performance is okay as well, but to be honest, the Milestar can’t replace a proper winter or snow tire.

So, the Milestar Patagonia M/T is a great off-road tire that’s dirt cheap. Where is the catch then? In on-road performance, this tire can’t be compared to the best off-road or especially all terrain tires out there. Most off-road enthusiast won’t mind hearing a little more noise on the highway, but for the general buyer, that might be a big deal-breaker.
